Couple bucks the trend in favour of TAAG
Local newlyweds Mike and Eden Watson (nee Boyko) thought kissing could raise some money for companion animals. While the couple included several traditional aspects to their ceremony and reception, tapping the glasses to make the bride and groom kiss was not one of them. The couple opted to raise money for a favourite local charity instead. The Animal Assistance Group is a non-profit organization who's mission is to rescue and provide veterinary and foster care to abandoned, sick, injured, or unwanted pets. The Watson's adopted their adult cat "Threeve" last summer from TAAG. Guests of the Watson-Boyko nuptials were asked to donate a sum to TAAG if they wanted to see the couple kiss.
"We just wanted to use our happy day to help those pets less fortunate. TAAG is such a great organization, we thought we could promote them and give a little too." says new bride, Eden. She can't take full credit for the idea. She was recently a part of a wedding party who also raised money for TAAG with their wedding reception kisses and decided to copy the idea.
In total the Watson's raised $95 at their April wedding reception. They are proud that their smootches and generous guests could go to help pets in need.
