In their final tournament of the year, the Green Circle Environmental U-12 Boys Civics team reached the semi-finals at the Henderson tournament in London. Due to inclement weather on Sunday the semi-final game vs Brampton was cancelled. Instead it was decided on Monday morning in a shoot-out which was won by the Brampton Inferno. In the preliminary round the Civics finished with a 1-1-1 record which was good for 4 points and second in their pool. The first game was a 2-1 loss against Middlesex United. The lone goal was scored by Paul Zappacosta. The team would bounce back with a 3-1 win against Clarkson FC. Lucas Stefano contributed 2 goals with the single going to Kristian Shuttleworth. The boys needed a tie or win to advance and they would not be denied. Up against a very tough Scarborough opponent the team battled back to tie the game late 1-1 on a goal by Kristian Shuttleworth. Strong goaltending throughout the tournament was provided by Aaron Grawbarger.
This concludes a very successful season for the U12 boys which saw them take home gold & silver from 4 tournaments.
