The Algoma University Thunderbirds Men's Basketball team survived an OCAA Championship qualifying round game Saturday night against the visiting George Brown Huskies. The Thunderbirds were down by 3 at the half as George Brown held the 39-36 lead. The Thunderbirds were able to rally in the 2nd half of the do-or-die game, eliminating George Brown in the process.
The Algoma University Thunderbirds defeated the George Brown Huskies 74-69 at the George Leach Centre in Sault Ste Marie and advance to a quarter-final match-up against the Algonquin College Thunder at the OCAA Championship in Ottawa March 1-3rd.
The Algoma University Women's team has already qualified for the OCAA Championships being held in Toronto.
