baseball generic 2Fast starts In Saturdays games failed to provide a win for the Cambrian Nissan Midget Black Sox on the closing day of the round robin at the Lynn Auto Parts Annual Tournament. The Black Sox started strong in both games on Saturday but errors and some timely hitting by both Sanford Post 443 and the Ishpeming Blue Storm, caused the locals to walk away from the tournament without a victory.

In the opening game, Sanford led off the game by scoring two runs off of two Black Sox fielding errors and held an early 2-0 lead. The Black Sox responded in their half of the first with four straight hits and scored three runs to take the early lead. Unfortunately, the Black Sox would not be able to add to the three early runs and Sanford went on to a five-inning, 16-3 victory. Coty Anderson took the loss on the mound and Chad Kaijer picked up the win. Offensively, the Black Sox were lead by Collin McAuley with a single, double and two runs batted in. Dana Lesage, Eric Thornton, Coty Anderson and Dominic Buonomo all chipped in with singles. Sanford Post 443 was led offensively by Ty Rollin with a single, double and two walks. Nick Mammel had three singles and leadoff hitter Jimmy Schoor had two singles for the winners.

In the final game of round robin play, the Black Sox jumped out to an early 6-0 lead by the second inning. Ishpeming eventually tied up game and eventually took a 12-6 lead in the top of the sixth. A Black Sox rally fell short on the bottom of the inning that was highlighted by a two-run home run by Eric Thornton, making the score of 12-8, which would hold up as the final. Scott Morphet battled on the mound and ended up with the loss. Morphet also contributed a single and a double and two RBI to help lead the five-run outburst for the Black Sox in the second Inning. Also chipping in offensively for the Black Sox were Anderson with a single and double; McAuley with two singles and two runs batted in. Brad Manson added a single. Winning pitcher for Ishpeming was Jake Richards. Ishpeming was led offensively by Jacob Finegan with a single and double while Jarrett Davidson had 2 doubles.

The Black Sox return to action this Tuesday for a home game at Sinclair Yards vs the EUP Travellers game action is 7 p.m.
