ELLIOT LAKE – “This morning’s announcement by the McGuinty government is a small step in beginning the rebuilding process for the community of Elliot Lake. Businesses and workers of the Algo Centre Mall are a central part of our community and economy. They deserve support. In addition to this contribution, the government needs to provide a long-term infrastructure plan that will be sustainable for the economic future of our community.“I’m glad that my calls to the government did not go unheard, and that the province has agreed to provide urgently needed funding to the community. As the MPP for the area, and as a concerned resident, I will continue to stand up and fight for our community.
“As a resident of Elliot Lake, a tenant of the mall, and as the MPP, I was proud to stand by my friends and neighbours in the days following the tragic collapse. I will continue to stand with this community, shoulder to shoulder, as we begin to rebuild. Today’s announcement is a step forward, but we still have a long way to go.”
