Elaine was a member of the Sault Area Hospital Board of Directors for ten years and recently completed her fifth and final year as Chair.
“Elaine has been extremely generous in giving of her time and talents to both the Hospital and Foundation. Her commitment over ten years has been truly remarkable,” said Cheryl Pavoni, Executive Director of the Foundation. “We are very excited to hold this event to honour her ‘decade of dedication’ and the legacy she leaves behind.”
Under Elaine’s stewardship as Chair, Sault Area Hospital realized a number of significant milestones, including the move into our new state-of-the-art facility on budget and ahead of schedule, and the first balanced budget in more than a decade. These are but two of a multitude of successes during Elaine’s tenure which will be celebrated.
“In addition to her work with Sault Area Hospital, Elaine has contributed countless volunteer hours to the community over the years, serving on the Boards of Sault College, the Art Gallery of Algoma, United Way,
Bi-National Regional Initiative Developing Greater Education (BRIDGE), and serving as both Vice-President and President of the Algoma District Law Association, to mention just a few,” added Ms. Pavoni.
This fundraising event will be held at the Marconi Club, 450 Albert Street West, on Friday, September 28, 2012. The Cocktail Hour will be from 6:00 to 7:00 pm with dinner scheduled for a 7:15 pm start.
Tickets will be available for $125.00 per person (a portion yet to be determined will be receiptable) in the next few weeks, but you can reserve your seat or table by calling the Foundation at 705-759-3848 ext. 3816 and adding your name to the list. All funds raised from this event will go to the Foundation’s Fund for Better Care.
“I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work under Elaine’s strong and unwavering leadership and am thrilled to be able to honour her in this way,” stated Ron Gagnon, President and CEO of Sault Area Hospital. “I can’t think of anyone more deserving of our recognition and thanks for all she has given to SAH and Sault Ste. Marie.”
If you are unable to attend this evening of celebration but would still like to say thank you to Elaine, you can make a donation to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation “In Honour of Elaine Pitcher” and a card will be sent to her on your behalf.
