Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Street Team have been continuing their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the city of Sault Ste. Marie by seizing property that drug dealers are using to assist them in committing these crimes. On the 7th of August 2012 at approximately 8:05pm officers observed the accused Christopher Carson of 2-751 Wellington Street East operating a motor vehicle in a manner that caught the attention of officers. The vehicle was stopped and as officers approached the vehicle and the accused was immediately observed holding a clear plastic bag containing a quantity of Cannabis marijuana.
As a result he was arrested and the vehicle was searched. During the search, officers located: 10 grams of marijuana, 57 morphine capsules (15mg dosage) a digital scale, a quantity of cash and toking devices. The estimated street value of the drugs is $1055.00. Carson has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
His vehicle, a 1999 Chevy Cavalier and the quantity of cash were seized as offense related property and officers will be seeking an order for these items to be forfeited to the crown.
