After three days of tremendous basketball in Sault Ste. Marie only one team was able to come out on top after a hard fought gold medal game in front of a packed gymnasium on Saturday night at Korah Collegiate. In a tremendous final it was Stillwater Prep taking a 76-69 victory over St. Andrew's College Saints representing Aurora, Ontario.
Stillwater trailed by as many as 14 points at 50-36 midway through the third quarter but battled all the way back and cut the deficit to just three points heading into the final quarter and was able to make a number of clutch shots down the stretch to seal the victory.Tournament MVP Jabeail Neslike led the way for Stillwater with 23 points, while Marquis Boyd added 12 points and Earnest Wideman chipped in with 10.
On the St. Andrew's side, it was difficult fate after leading for much of the game only to see the lead evapourate and find themselves as the tournament runner-up. Second team all-star led the Saints with 20 points and first-team all star Daniel Cummings added 18 points.
Earlier in the evening, it was Grassroots Academy knocking off Sault Ste. Marie's own Korah Colts in a one-sided bronze medal game 96-38. Chevron Brown led the way with a game-high 23 points for Grassroots Academy. Peter Greve 8 points posted a team-high Korah Collegiate.
